Yes, this is stressful. It’s also a time of incredible anxiety and feelings of hopelessness. Unfortunately, the first line of our character is clearly being tested. This is now raising its head through the sudden rise in domestic violence. It can also be witnessed even in the way we interact with each other.
Parking lots and grocery stores, as well as other businesses, are now the pathway for a society on edge. Social distancing and the new rule of order does not have to mean a sudden loss of civility. We need a civil tone in America, now more than ever.
Remember, civility can be contagious.
Here are three things to keep in mind to help you remain civil during these times:
- The person you meet is experiencing many of the same feelings you are.
- Encouraging and helping others will help you cope during these times.
- This is a great time to embrace Actively Caring for People (AC4P)
As my friend, Dr. Stephen Soroka, says, “A great deal can be accomplished through the power of one.”
